Montague is really five villages: Turners Falls, Millers Falls, Montague Center, Montague City, and Lake Pleasant. Each has its own character, and the housing ranges from dense mill-town rowhouses in Turners to rural farmhouses in Montague Center.

Turners Falls has been experiencing a revival, with artists and small businesses moving into the old industrial buildings.
